“I love this one!” Janine said, running her hand across the glossy white wood. She and William had been out looking at nursery furniture all morning before his first tour of the day.

“It’s nice. What about the matching dresser and changing table?”

Janine was surprised at how excited he was. They didn’t have unlimited money by any means, but William wasn’t afraid to choose the best for their new baby.

“I like the whole set. Do you think we can get it?”

He smiled. “Yes. Let’s do it. Plus, my mom gave us a gift.” He opened his wallet and pulled out five crisp one-hundred-dollar bills.

“What? Dixie gave that to us?”

“Yes. She’d been saving it for the day we had our own child. Can you believe that?”

“I’m going to give her such a big hug when I see her! I have the best mother-in-law.”

“Are you ready to purchase this set?” the saleswoman asked.

“Yes. Can we get it delivered today, by chance?” William asked. “We’re adopting a baby, and it could be any day now.”

The woman smiled broadly. “How exciting! Of course. I’ll get our delivery guy scheduled for late this afternoon, if that works?”

Janine was so excited to get the nursery set up. She’d been waiting to do this for her whole life, and she was going to savor every moment from start to finish.
